I use to measure my life by school years, now I measure them through you. The seasons we go through. The trips that we take. I was making a list last night in my head of all the incredible things we’ve done this past year– I do this sort of thing often for when & if life gets hard.
some favorites include:
-camping in a tent in Iceland that was no longer waterproof & waking up to rain on our faces
-finding the best beignets at a food truck in Austin, TX
-all the hard conversations that make us deeper, kinder, and closer souls
-shopping at a vietnamese market in Iceland and making dinner in our little kitchen
-listening to Ben Howard driving up the coast
-getting sick of talking to each other on our road trip and turning to Harry Potter audiotapes for some much needed space
-announcing to our friends & family that we’re adopting
-taking an empty house and making it feel like ‘us’
All I know is that over and over again, I’d say I do.
Cheers to another year of living simply & adventurously.
She’s new! She’s back! & we’re in love.
This baby has been months in the making. Not quite as long as an actual baby, but close.
I took a step back, reevaluated my business, & with that saw that my site needed to reflect that growth. Traveling will do that to you. Take some time to get away and your personal & business life grow and mature in lots of amazing ways.
But where does one start? Rebranding is taking words that represent you and putting it into something tangible. Do you know how hard it is to translate authentic and intimate into a brand? Or clean with a hint of messy? Um yeah… really hard.
I reached out to Jaymee, who was a dream to work with. She understood my heart & took everything I dreamed of into a comprehensive brand & a kick ass mood board.
I was shocked at how easy she made the process and saw how important it is to find someone who’s style you admire. Really I cannot say enough good things about this girl.
And then there’s Scott, who is a coding wizard there to make all the hardest things be as easy as a warm breeze. Add those two together and we’ve got the magic bestowed on you all today.
So here she is. Shiny & new. Like a stylish boho bride.
And here’s me. Promising to put forth work that is intimate and true. To work for images that have the humanity in it, not the trends and to reflect a level of professionalism that is editorial, yet a little bit messy (because let’s be real, our lives are all a little bit messy).
Take a look around!
Steady as the stars in the woods
And the warmth rang true inside these bones
As the old pine fell we sang
Just to bless the morning.
our last day in this cozy place. i love this photo of Bryan among other photos of him peacefully asleep in the early hours of the morning. someday, I think I’ll gather them into a series… but this photo will always be a sweet reminder of the times spent within these walls.
And a reminder of how grateful I am for photography.
photograph your loved ones.

Film is in line with humanity. Maybe because it’s not photoshopped… everyone’s natural beauty is on display. Or maybe because it’s hard to experience the moment with digital. With film you learn to sit back, breathe, and somehow take the moments in deeper. Either way it makes my heart happy to have my family on film.

|Isn’t my mother gorgeous? I hope I look this good without makeup when I’m her age.
Sometimes I show up to a shoot exhausted. The week has been crazy–full of ups and downs. Then I get to be with this couple and everything melts. Stress is of the past and my heart is once again full. I think this means I’m in the right profession. I think this also means I have the best clients. They come with their hearts so full for each other that I can’t help but get some of that overflow.
I love love.
Mike, Megan, thanks for believing in me.
You guys are one good lookin’ couple.
They brought their cute pup, Mayday [best name for a dog, right?]
